Help !
We understand that choosing a breathalyser can be very difficult without advice on accuracy levels and suitability for intended use. So. to help you out, we have designed this 'help me choose' page which is designed to take the stress out of ploughing through page after page of breathalyser details.
Where to Start ?
In a nutshell, the old adage of you get what you pay for holds true for breathalysers. Ask yourself how accurate the breathalyser needs to be to fulfill the task ? There are two sorts of breathalysers on the market - semi conductor and fuel cell sensor breathalysers. The former are generally less than £100 and are ideal for personal and small company use where a screening process is in place. Semi conductor breathalysers need recalibrating at approximately 250 tests or 6 months of use and can offer accuracy levels in the region of +/- 10% at the higher end of the market. The latter (fuel cell sensors) are used in all Police grade units
and are highly accurate offering typical accuracy values of +/- 5% and not suffering from the 'drift' that happens to semi-conductor units. They need recalibrating using Professional dry or wet bath alcohol simulators. We have fully certified wet bath facilities to do this for you if required.
